Inspired by X Factor? Bursting to be on Britain's Got Talent. Why not cut your performing teeth on the south west's very own talent competition this Autumn!
Talent South West is a brand new competition for all aspiring performers, from singers to stand-up, from tap dancers to dancing dogs, if you have a talent to ntertain, now's your chance in front of a live audience.
Audition and semi final rounds will be held in Plymouth, Exeter and Minehead, in three categories: music (bands and singers) dancers and performing arts, and speciality acts. Prizes will include mentoring with top agents as well as recording studio sessions. The finals will be held in Exeter with winners in all three categories being showcased at a black tie charity event in December.
The inspiration for the competition came from The Exeter Factor, a talent show organised by the ex Lord Mayor of Exeter, Cllr Marcel Choules, who was raising money for his mayoral charity Wonford and St Paul's Youth Community Project. He is now on the creative team for Talent South West and his charity will benefit from the performances, together with Help for Heroes.
Lifestyle Hospitality Group, a south west based chain of restaurants, will be staging the event and details on auditions will be announced shortly.
'The Exeter Factor was a huge success,' said Cllr Choules. 'I invited James Eyre, managing director of the Lifestyle Group, to be one of the judges and he was so blown away by the event and the standard of the performers, that he decided to expand it to cover the whole of the south west.'
So if you make music, sing, dance or have an act that deserves a wider audience, now's the time to start thinking about entering this amazing new competition.
'We know that the south west has literally tons of talent,' said James Eyre, 'but people here don't always have the opportunity that other parts of Britain enjoy, to show what they can do. We want to provide that gap in the market - and we are certain that the competition will produce some stars of tomorrow.
'The prizes will be real stepping stones for the performers, that will help them get to the next level in their careers.'
